Position Summary: The Mechanical/Piping Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for industrial construction projects. This role requires a keen understanding of mechanical systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The Mechanical Estimator will play a critical role in helping the company secure new projects and maintain profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimate Preparation:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed estimates.
- Perform material take-offs and calculate labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Obtain and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Bid Management:
- Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure comprehensive and accurate bids.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
Cost Analysis:
- Analyze historical data and market trends to ensure competitive pricing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
- Prepare cost reports and maintain up-to-date records of estimates and bids.
Client Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements and address any concerns.
- Present and explain estimates to clients, answering any questions and providing clarifications as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry developments, new technologies, and best practices in estimating.
- Participate in training programs and professional development activities.
- Suggest and implement improvements to the estimating process.
-Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Quick Bid, or similar).
