Position Summary:
The Heavy Civil Superintendent is responsible for the daily coordination, supervision, and execution of all on-site construction activities for heavy civil projects, including roadways, utilities, grading, bridges, and other infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep knowledge of heavy civil construction practices, capable of managing crews, subcontractors, schedules, and safety with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all on-site field operations for heavy civil projects from mobilization to closeout.
- Ensure work is performed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Foremen, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Supervise crews performing earthwork, paving, underground utilities, concrete structures, and other civil scopes.
- Interpret construction drawings and provide field direction for execution.
- Maintain daily reports, track production, and communicate progress with project stakeholders.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Manage and order materials and equipment necessary for jobsite activities.
- Identify potential issues and proactively implement solutions to keep the project on track.
- Assist in scheduling and phasing work to maximize crew efficiency and equipment utilization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5–10 years of heavy civil construction experience with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or Foreman role.
- Proven experience with site development, mass grading, utilities, roadwork, and/or structural concrete.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to direct and motivate field personnel.
- Proficient with scheduling tools and basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Procore, or similar platforms).
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
