We are an established and growing leader in steel fabrication, committed to delivering high-quality products and maintaining the highest standards in the industry. As we expand our operations, we are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and elevate our Quality Control Department.
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Manager will play a critical leadership role in developing, managing, and optimizing our Quality Control Department. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of quality processes within steel fabrication, the ability to lead a team, and a proactive mindset to drive performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead the Quality Control Department to support production demands and company objectives.
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS).
- Supervise and mentor quality control staff, ensuring a high-performance, accountable team.
- Conduct and oversee weld inspections, blueprint reviews, and compliance checks.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to industry codes, customer specifications, and internal standards.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
- Identify process gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Project Management, and Engineering to support project success.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Quality control experience within the steel fabrication industry.
- Direct knowledge of weld inspections and blueprint reading.
- Proven experience developing and managing a Quality Management System (QMS).
- Prior management experience overseeing a team of direct reports.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Self-starter with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications (Candidates should meet at least 75% of the following):
- Experience managing and preparing for external quality audits.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methods and implementation of corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline and structural steel fabrication processes.
- Experience with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) inspections.
- Hands-on fabrication background with strong welding experience.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience working with ASME code packages (pressure vessels).
- Understanding of industrial coating systems.
- Familiarity with AWWA code requirements.
