Position Summary:
The HR Business Partner is responsible for administering and maintaining all human resource functions, including payroll processing through Paycor, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and training. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll management while maintaining a positive workplace culture and aligning HR strategies with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Administer end-to-end payroll processing using Paycor software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Process employee data for new hires, terminations, pay changes, benefits deductions, and garnishments.
- Verify timesheet information and reconcile variances before payroll submission.
- Prepare payroll reports and maintain accurate records of transactions.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues such as deductions, tax filings, or discrepancies.
- Talent Acquisition and Management:
- Perform recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Implement effective hiring strategies and maintain job descriptions.
- Manage hourly employees' performance appraisal systems to drive high performance and determine appropriate pay.
- Work with local staffing agencies to fill temporary to permanent positions.
- Employee Relations:
- Bridge management and employee relations by supporting open communication and feedback.
- Foster a positive working environment and promote corporate values.
- Advise management on disciplinary procedures and terminations in accordance with company policy.
- Administer personal, family, and medical leave of absences in compliance with company policies as well as state and federal regulations.
- Compliance and Policy Management:
- Ensure legal compliance in all HR practices and stay updated on labor laws in all areas MRC operates.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Training and Development:
- Assess training needs and manage employee development programs.
- Facilitate learning and development initiatives to support business needs.
- Manage annual Illinois and Chicago Anti-Harassment Training Program and any future mandated trainings.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Assist in guiding employee compensation and benefits programs. Monitor the compensation ranges in similar operations and locations to ensure MRC remains competitive.
- Maintain benefits administration.
- Manage the annual open enrollment process and participate in selection of providers.
- HR Operations:
- Maintain daily workflow of the HR department.
- Maintain HR information systems and accurate employee records.
- Safety and Workers' Compensation:
- Collaborate with the safety coordinator to ensure proper post-accident and injury care for employees
- Process and submit workers' compensation claims promptly, maintaining ongoing oversight of their progress
Required Qualifications:
- 5 Years working in a related HR role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- SHRM or related HR certification preferred.
