We have an exciting opportunity for a Project/Test Engineer (Battery Reserve) to join the team with MRI, a teammate company.
Project/Test Engineer (Battery Reserve):

The position is for a Project/Test Engineer with the EP5 Battery Team. This team evaluates candidate battery cells and battery pack designs for use in the space environment. This is a relatively small team that works very closely together. The EP5 Battery Team is responsible for crafting Battery Safety requirements and evaluation methods, as well as coordinating with NASA programs and industry partners to provide guidance and assistance upon request. This position will entail a suite of tasks including: test development and planning, test hardware design, modeling and procurement, cell screening, Class I hardware upgrades, test unit build up, customer hardware delivery, battery physical and electrical assessment, and more. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, this includes international travel.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Have 3 years of professional experience in a technical team environment.
- Possess familiarity with Li-Ion battery cells, battery packs, their testing modes, and their failure methods. - Have strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Have experience following Work Instructions/Procedures to conduct a specific task/test.
- Have the ability to lift and carry up to 30 lb for a short distance.
- The candidate must possess, or be able to obtain within a reasonable time, a passport for international travel.
Preferences:
- Have the drive and ability to complete moderate tasks with only a small amount of oversight
- Have experience developing a simple project timeline/schedule and cost estimate
- Have experience with Creo
- Have experience attending and presenting test findings at a conference
- Have experience with JSCs Hardware Quality Classifications (Class I / Class III)
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
