Job Summary
As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality millwork products such as custom cabinetry, doors, and architectural millwork. This position works closely with engineering and other manufacturing departments to ensure production of high-quality and cost-effective products.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines for milling, drilling, and cutting wood materials.
- Prepare and load raw materials onto the machines.
- Monitor machines during operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality of parts produced.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, cut lists and CAD files to understand product specifications.
- Inspect parts produced using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet specification.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment.
- Ensure work areas are well maintained, clean and organized.
- Must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with others and take direction.
Qualifications/Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CNC Operator. Experience in the woodworking and/or millwork industry is preferred. Experience using an edge bander, beam saw and/or other wood/metal working equipment is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiar with woodworking techniques, materials, measurement tools (E.g., tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc.) and typical shop tools (E.g., drill, belt sander,
saw, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent attention to detail/accuracy, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to navigate computer software (E.g. MS Office). Knowledge of ERP is a plus.
