POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The SPC Lab Technician is responsible for performing functional testing on products. This includes measuring, recording data, and analyzing data. This position interacts directly with Operations, Continuous Improvement and Engineering Personnel and is responsible for maintaining a high-quality environment within the manufacturing area by overseeing and ensuring compliance with current Food Safety Guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures through periodic inspections and monitoring of process controls in all applicable areas of the manufacturing operation. Furthermore, this position will participate in the Internal Audit Program and may assist with Supplier Audits/Certification programs, as well as Customer Audits and Supplier/Customer relations trips.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Accept accountability for safety
· Promote and participate in 5S initiatives
· Measure using a smart scope (OGP), FTIR, calipers and micrometers; record data, and assess/evaluate data
· Write computer programs as required for optical gauging machine or SPC program to obtain and interpret data
· Make recommendations for dimensional adjustment, or blueprint changes with Engineering
· Perform functional testing of CRC product to include strip torque, de-shelling, and free spin analysis
· Perform visual inspections of submitted samples
· Assist with material testing for raw materials (FTIR, melt flow, color spectrophotometry, etc…)
· Notify appropriate departments of the need for changes in dimensions or process
· Annual review of Standard Operating Procedures and Work instructions. Update as required
· Evaluation and review of Customer Specifications
· Notify appropriate departments of material lot changes
· Respond to customer requests for quality lab data and assist in troubleshooting customer complaint samples
· Maintain calibration procedure and make sure all MRP’s tooling and gauging are properly calibrated with traceability to the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)
· Ensure lab procedures and work instructions are up to date and accurate
· Answer questions regarding these procedures to ISO or customer auditors
· Filing of records
· Participate in internal audit program through weekly and monthly GMP and process audits
SKILLS REQUIRED
· High School diploma or GED*
· 2 years manufacturing experience
· Experience using calipers, micrometers, smart scope, or other measuring devices
· Knowledge of Injection Molding operation is recommended
· General computer knowledge with experience in excel and word. Computer programming experience is a plus.
· Dexterity and preciseness required to conduct visual and test inspections
· Good organizational, communication, and writing skills
· Basic Math and Statistics experience is encouraged
· Vocational Training or experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Required to walk, sit and/or stand for up to 12 hours per day.
· May be required to reach with hands and arms.
· As needed, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs and lift to 50 lb
Food Safety Requirements
· Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all maintenance work in the facility meets food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
· Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and complete documentation correctly.
· Ensure all work product contact surfaces are restored to sanitary condition after any job completion.
· Report incidents, and product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to your direct reports and submit a safety/food safety incident report.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
