SUMMARY
The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for all phases of capital project management from conceptual estimate and design to construction, commissioning, start-up and close out. Project scope, financial spending forecast and schedule development are all responsibilities of the Engineering Project Manager. Engineering Project Manager will research alternatives to offer the lowest cost option while maintaining compliance with all food safety regulations, codes and agencies.
The Engineering Project Manager interacts with management and internal departments to establish and define requirements for facility, utility, packaging, and manufacturing projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate, plan, and execute the company’s strategic capital planning objectives.
- Develop conceptual designs, preliminary budgets, and schedules for assigned projects.
- Implement a yearly strategic capital plan to improve operations, increase efficiency and lower operating costs.
- Manage company Capital Expense Request process to include submission, approval, and reconciliation.
- Development along with assistance from the project sponsors the preparation of the Capital Investment Requests (CIRs). CIRs to include project description, justification, cost estimates, budget, schedule, analysis of alternatives and other required information. ROI Projections
- Analyzes plant operations and key metrics to maintain operational efficiencies within each department.
- Is responsible for meeting all regulatory requirement and rules.
- Select, manage, and coordinate the efforts of design consultants and firms as appropriate.
- Manage and coordinate (with employees and other personnel) the efforts of construction management, general or trade sub-contractors to ensure the successful (i.e. safe, timely, high quality, cost effective, legal) implementation of assigned projects. Meeting or exceeding capital targets.
- Administer, resolve, and control all design, construction, contractual and financial issues on assigned projects.
- Ensure frequent communication and conducts regularly scheduled meetings between Project Team and other stakeholders. Communicates regularly with project owners, attends Operations Directors weekly meeting to provide statis updates.
- Facilitates change management process to ensure successful implementations of projects.
- Coordinates all activities with building departments/inspectors.
- Completes assigned projects by starting-up and checking-out all new equipment and systems, inspecting construction, developing, and ensuring complete resolution of “punch list” items.
- Develops Capital and Expense budget requests for future projects during annual budget cycle.
- Interfaces with internal departments to ensure project compliance with applicable food safety standards and comply with Mrs. Gerry’s Quality Standards. Ensure that all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements are met on assigned projects.
- Maintain technical skills in the latest techniques for project management and engineering technology as applied to facilities and equipment design, construction, and plant operation.
- Utilizes Certified PMP principles for project. Project definition, project concept, preliminary and detailed design, construction, and commissioning/verification and close out.
- Leads by example. This includes ensuring compliance with all company policies, standards, specifications, and national suppliers.
- Will also work with procurement, documentation and maintenance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or higher-level degree Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with 4-6 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: PMP Certification preferred
- Thorough understanding of regulatory laws and responsibilities as they pertain to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Prefer candidate to have experience in the Food/Beverage Industry.
- Proficient understanding of budgeting and cost control.
- Knowledge of Contractor Safety Materials to ensure safe and effective job site operations.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Motivated, self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PMP Certification is preferred, or demonstration of project management principals are required to successfully perform job duties.
