About the role
The purpose of this role is to price reinsurance treaties and contribute to the technical pricing team. The role works within the Pricing actuarial team in identifying the requirements and specifications of the pricing models and contributing to their continuous improvement. This will include providing support in the embedding of robust actuarial methods as well as model calibration. This position will perform case pricing and rate monitoring and ad hoc support with the claims reserving process. The Pricing Actuary will also collaborate with other Pricing team members on various technical projects.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver timely and accurate actuarial input to assist underwriters with individual risk pricing. Tasks include data manipulation and preparation; reconciliation of data between submissions; analysis and explanation of large or unusual claim movements.
- Produce draft pricing results for discussion with underwriters and actuaries, including explanation of cost drivers and material movements.
- Review and validate rate change calculations in accordance with MS Reinsurance's technical pricing framework.
- Develop a detailed technical understanding of existing pricing models in order to assist with future development and refinement. Contribute to the development and parameterization of new pricing models within MS Reinsurance's technical pricing framework.
- Assist in the production and validation of portfolio pricing statistics.
- Collaborate and share knowledge with the wider pricing and actuarial team on pricing approaches and analyses.
- Participate in other pricing team activities as appropriate.
