Sr. Instrumentation Engineer

Summary:

MS Technology, Inc. is seeking a candidate to perform, plan, develop, evaluate, and analyze electrical engineering design tasks and projects with a primary focus on instrumentation, LabView development, and electric circuit development.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with LabView code and development, circuit design, instrumentation and sensor design/implementation, and electronics manufacturing.Create engineering solutions meeting programmatic objectives considering cost and schedule as well as technical requirements.

The candidate will analyzeavarietyofelectrical engineering problems using traditional analytical methods and other simulation techniques including such tools as PSPICE, MATLAB, LabView, Simulink, and OrCAD.

Responsibilities:

• Initialareaoffocuswillbethedeployment of new machine instrumentation electronics and data analysis/acquisition software for the manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, TN. Next area of focus is to develop new circuits for various centrifuge instrumentation to be deployed in the production facility in Piketon, OH.Additionalassignmentswillberelated togaseouscentrifugeenrichmentmachines,supportequipmentandotherindustry projects
• With minimal supervision, provides electrical engineering support by preparing design packages, manufacturing specifications, statements of work, equipment specifications, schedules,andcostestimatesnecessaryforprojectimplementationinasafe,effective, and efficient manner
• With minimal supervision, manage multipleprojects including offsite manufacturing of electronics and testing in house
• Experience, knowledge, and skills in Electrical Engineeringdiscipline;isresponsibleforallphasesofassignedstandardengineeringprojects, ensuringthesuccessfulconclusionofallphaseswithinanappropriatetimeandatan appropriatecost
• Plans,develops,andimplementselectricalinstrumentationanddata acquisitionsystemsandelectricaldesignmodificationsincorporatingvarioustypesofelectricalcomponentswith a variety of power distribution levels
• Performstechnicalreview,systemwalkdowns,troubleshooting,andday-to-day technicalsupportforthedesignofacentrifugeplant
• Workeffectivelyandtransparentlywithotherdesigndisciplinesoroutsideengineering firmstoaccomplishsuccessfuldesigncompletiontomeetprojectschedules
• Exercisesresponsibilityforaccomplishingcomplexandunusualelectricalengineering assignments on schedule and on budget
• Mustbecapableofworkingwithinamulti-disciplineengineeringorganization understandingthatmanyofthedesignsthattheACO-ORengineeringorganization worksonareelectro-mechanicalinnature
• Developdesignrequirements,leadprojectsandmentorotherengineers
• Prepare bills of material, cost estimates, and specifications for procurement of materials and equipment
• InteractwithotherbusinessunitsofCentrusandtheUSDepartmentofEnergy(US DOE)
• Performsotherrelateddutiesasassigned
  
  

Minimum Experience:

• Bachelor’sdegreeinElectricalEngineeringplus 5yearsofexperienceorequivalentin industrial electronics, preferably with an emphasis on instrumentation design
• Onetothreeyearsofexperienceworkinginmanufacturing
• OnetothreeyearsofexperienceworkinginR&D
• Onetothreeyearsofexperienceworkingindeveloping LabView environments
• Stronginterestand/ordesigncapabilitiescoveringanarrayofelectricalequipmentand systemsfromlowvoltageinstrumentation and data acquisition systems that utilize LabView as their primary development environment
• Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills; analytical and computationalskills;computer skillsincludingword processing,spreadsheets,and Outlook communications
• MustbeabletoobtainoralreadypossessaDOE“Q”clearance
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s plus 10 years of experience or equivalent with Master’sdegreeinElectricalEngineering with a focusin industrial electronics, preferably with an emphasis on instrumentation design and high-speed data acquisition
• 3 years’experienceinthenuclearindustry
• Circuit design including the design and implementation for production/manufacturing use of instrumentation circuits/devices
• LabView data acquisitionexperience
• Embeddedsoftwaredevelopmentand/ortestingexperience
