What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Provider Assistant position at Ms. Tee Family Daycare?
Summary: Under the supervision of the owner of Ms. Tee Family Daycare, the Child Care Worker in collaboration with the owner assists in the daily operations of the family child care center. The Child Care Assistant must be able to work in an environment devoted to caring and nurturing young children on a daily basis. He/she must provide an appropriate emotional, psychological, and intellectual environment and ensure the safety of the children in care.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Typical responsibilities and duties for the Child Care Worker include but are not limited to:
- Manage and supervise children newborn to 10 years of age.
- Maintains the personal hygiene of children attending the Day Care Center.
- Closely monitors the activities of children.
- Cleans and sanitizes Day Care Center rooms, toys and equipment on a daily basis.
- Daily health inspection of children and is alert to and reports all suspicious indications of child abuse or neglect.
- Organizes materials and prepares for children’s daily activities.
- Serves daily meals to children as appropriate.
- Daily inspection of the childcare facilities for cleanliness and safety hazards and reports concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Customer Relations:
- Respond promptly and with caring actions to children, parents, and others. Acknowledge psychosocial, spiritual and cultural beliefs and honor these beliefs.
- Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public.
- Be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing goals and objectives of the daycare.
Safety:
- Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.
- Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
- Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment.
- Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
- Follow all infection control procedures, including but not limited to, proper hand-washing, food handling, and diaper changing techniques.
Privacy/Compliance:
- Maintain privacy of all children and their families, other employees and visitors, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need to know basis for business purposes.
- Comply with all California Child Licensing regulations.
- Report unethical, fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.
- Comply with Mandated Reporting laws when child abuse is suspected.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
- Current Pediatric, First Aid, CPR certificate.
- TB Test Clearance
- Pass Background Check and Finger Print Clearance
Education:
- High School diploma or GED Required
Experience: Some knowledge of working with children or previous childcare experience and college level course work in early childhood development and/or Certificate in Early Childhood Education / Child Development is highly desirable.
Physical Ability: Must have physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, have the ability to reach, possess fine manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and near and far visual acuity. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
