Production Supervisor – Molding Department

Now hiring for a Production Supervisor to lead our team in the Molding Department at our Murrysville, PA manufacturing plant. This position reports directly to the Murrysville Hat Production Manager and will be a first line supervisor to the following Molding departments: Cost Center 109 V-Gard Basic, Cost Center 112 Polycarb and Misc. Responsibilities include safety, staffing, capacity, budgets, delivery, quality and other applicable agency standards as well as continuous improvement.
Description of duties and responsibilities:
Production:
- Maintain staffing of both full time and temporaries to meet customer demand.
- Assign associates to work cell and adjust staffing daily to match workload.
- Meet with Buyer/Planners daily to discuss issues such as material shortages, customer demand, capacity, etc., and adjust appropriately.
- Work with all plant support groups i.e. Safety, Industrial, Manufacturing, & Quality Engineering groups as required.
- Be a promoter of Safety 24/7, Customer Satisfaction & a willingness to promote and sustain continuous improvement.
- Maintain Visual Control Boards per MSA Operating System standards.
- Oversee equipment problems in department and make sure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
HR:
- Addressing Associate’s personal and work-related issues.
- Interview associates to fill open positions.
- Enforcing MSA policies and procedures ensuring accountability for compliance.
- Create and maintain associate’s training records.
Communication:
- Daily interaction with Associates on multiple shifts according to MSA Operating System standards.
- Attend Safety, Staff, department, stand-up and material management meetings.
- Post-daily information on KPI and or department bulletin board.
Administrative:
- Approve time for permanent and temporary associates and maintain attendance, vacation, etc. data in Replicon system.
- Maintain the department roster, cross-training matrix and evacuation plan.
- Write up safety documentation including JSA/SOP records, near hit and incident reports.
- Verify and review ECO documentation.
- Approve requisitions and tooling requirements.
- Review, sign-off, and reconcile VISA transactions.
- Respond to audit, CQN, and notification findings with solid root cause and occurrence prevention solutions.
Budget:
- Review performance of department and adjust and improve performance.
- Help Production Manager with 6-week departmental projections
- Review productivity, linearity or schedule achievement as compared to departmental goals.
- Monitor and investigate job-closeout variances.

Preferred:
Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma principles, Continuous Improvement, and/or EHS initiatives.
Education and experience required:
This position is available at three different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
Level one:
- Associates Degree in related field or educational academic equivalent required.
- Two years of proven supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or military setting may be substituted for an Associate’s degree.
- One year of proven supervisory experience or leadership experience (this can include Group leader experience), and two years working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is required.
- Related military experience may be substituted for up to two years of supervisory and / or work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Level two:
- Associates Degree in related field or educational academic equivalent required.
- Four years of proven supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or military setting may be substituted for an associate’s degree.
- Two years supervisory or leadership experience (this can include Group Leader experience), and three years working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is required.
- Related military experience may be substituted for up to two years of supervisory and / or work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Level three:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or educational academic equivalent required.
- Three years supervisory or leadership experience (this can include Group Leader experience), and four years working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is required.
- Related military experience may be substituted for up to two years of supervisory and / or work experience.
- Master’s degree/ certification preferred.
Preferred:
- One year experience in manufacturing.
- Professional work-related experience in Molding or lean manufacturing.
- Industrial Engineering degree.
- Prior MSA Experience.
