Responsibilities
Leadership, Staffing, and Development
- Lead the plant to maintain an optimal mix of skills, staff size, and development activities to meet organizational objectives.
- Set objectives for supervisors and group leaders, monitor progress, and provide coaching.
- Build and maintain positive relationships at all levels within the organization.
- Drive a proactive safety culture through programs like Behavior-Based Safety and ergonomic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Guarantee products meet design and regulatory standards and resolve customer issues promptly.
- Ensure adherence to the MSA Quality Management System.
- Establish production systems to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and other departments to reduce product costs.
- Work with NPD teams to ensure new products are introduced into production on time and within budget.
- Develop and achieve performance goals aligned with the annual budget.
- Manage plant performance in customer service, quality, safety, employee relations, and compliance.
- Identify and plan for short- and long-term capital equipment needs.
- Build strong working relationships with other key functions such as Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership to execute strategic priorities and drive measurable results.
- Excellent team-building and motivational skills to create a cohesive team environment.
- Strong written, oral communication, and presentation abilities.
- Business and financial acumen to drive organizational outcomes.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, delegate authority, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to develop talent and build future leadership.
- Success in achieving goals through cross-functional collaboration and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Experience leading Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or EHS initiatives.
- Supervisory experience in multi-department, multi-shift operations.
- Familiarity with the MSA Operating System for aligning performance to objectives.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in business or related technical field.
- Level One: 3 years of production supervisory/project management experience plus 4 years of production/related experience. Advanced degrees or relevant military experience may substitute for up to 2 years of experience.
- Level Two: 4 years of production supervisory/project management experience plus 5 years of production/related experience. Advanced degrees or relevant military experience may substitute for up to 2 years of experience.
