What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Language Learner Instructor position at MSAD 75 / RSU 75?
Merrymeeting Adult Education (Brunswick location)
HOURS: Daytime Position (Tues. & Thur. 9:00-10:30am & 2:00-3:30pm)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare classroom and course materials, and provide instruction for non-native speakers with diverse activities and methods that cover all aspects of English language: reading, writing, listening, speaking, and comprehension
- Build positive relationships with students by creating a supportive and positive classroom environment
- Create individualized educational plans based on each student’s needs and evaluate their progress
- Utilize CASAS assessments and testing to monitor student progress
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades
- Collaborate with educational staff to provide a positive learning experience for students
REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year educational degree with teaching/training experience.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Computer proficiency.
- Proven ability to engage students in a positive classroom experience.
- Proven ability to be organized, understand and implement curriculum and communicate detailed and timely responses to student work.
- Position is not for credit. Maine Department of Education Certification preferred, but not required.
