Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the design and release of automotive exterior components such as bumpers, grilles, mirrors, side claddings, spoilers, door handles, and other trim parts.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, as well as corporate design and engineering standards.
· Collaborate with styling and design teams to translate aesthetic intent into manufacturable and functional components.
· Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for cost, quality, and production feasibility.
· Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and ensure robust design validation through physical and virtual testing.
· Manage engineering changes, component releases, and BOM updates throughout the product development lifecycle.
· Provide technical support for issue resolution during prototype builds and production launches.
· Collaborate with CAE, NVH, and aerodynamics teams to ensure optimal performance of exterior components.
· Stay updated with the latest materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends in automotive exterior systems.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum 8–10 years of experience in exterior component design, development, and release in the automotive industry.
· Proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA V5/V6.
· Strong understanding of materials, injection molding, composites, and other relevant manufacturing processes.
· Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawing standards.
· Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE PLM systems and engineering change management.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
· Excellent communication and project management skills.
· Experience working with global OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
· Knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements for exterior components.
· Hands-on experience in prototype development and validation testing.
