Position Overview: The Director of Finance is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health of MSC, driving operational efficiency, and supporting long-term business objectives. This position requires deep expertise in general ledger reconciliations, journal entry processing, and accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR) management. The Director of Finance will be supported by an AP/AR Specialist and will collaborate closely with the VP of Contracts to ensure financial alignment with organizational goals.

- Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide visionary financial leadership to the finance team, ensuring alignment with MSC's mission and growth objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial planning, risk management, and capital allocation.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the monthly and annual budgeting processes, including financial forecasting, variance analysis, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to develop and monitor financial targets.
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and contract regulatory requirements.
- Deliver actionable financial insights to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing requirements, including sales tax and 1099s.
- Cost Management & Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of production costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement strategies to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to all regulations, including those relevant to manufacturing and DoD/government contracts.
- Support compliance with Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) and other key process requirements.
- Capital & Cash Flow Management:
- Manage capital planning and investment evaluations, including ROI analysis for potential projects.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management to maintain liquidity and operational stability.
- Team Development & Mentorship:
- Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure robust cross-training within the team to build operational resilience.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with the VP of Contracts and other key departments, including operations and business development, to support business initiatives and improve financial performance.
- Facilitate financial training for non-finance staff to promote understanding of key financial concepts.
- Operational Oversight:
- Lead AP and AR processes, ensuring timely posting of transactions and effective management of cash flow.
- Review monthly payroll for accuracy and compliance.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- CPA certification is required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with a strong background in manufacturing environments and DoD/government contracts.
- Proven experience in leading finance teams and managing cross-functional collaboration.
- Knowledge of FAR and DFAR, including cost principles
- Deltek Costpoint or similar project system
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in financial modeling and data analysis.
- Familiarity with QMS training requirements, including Non-Conformance Reports, DPAS for the customer, and contract review processes.
