Mediterranean Shipping Company is searching for the right candidate to join our Charleston office. The successful candidate will work within the Cargo Claims Department to assist with handling various tasks under the supervision of the Legal Department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Closely tracking and reporting on cargo claims files as they develop;
- Keeping and maintaining records in an up-to-date and organized fashion, to ensure that the latest information is available for review by company personnel;
- Engaging with customers, vendors, and colleagues both in the United States and abroad to maintain the flow of communication;
- Tracking, enforcing, and giving notice of strict deadlines;
- Monitoring claims files for unusual circumstances which may require escalation within the company;
- Pursuing collections against outside parties;
- Understanding complex fact patterns and reducing them into easily-absorbed written summaries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with legal or business focus preferred.
- Experience with work involving maintaining complex records in an organized fashion.
- Experience with commercial collections preferred.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skills and working knowledge of excel, word and power point.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and positivity.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
- Ability to effectively manage a high volume of work., and to follow-up on work in an organized, methodical fashion.
