Role Overview
A Bankruptcy Specialist typically works in the financial or legal sector and is responsible for overseeing and managing bankruptcy proceedings within an organization.
Essential Duties:
Manage files involved in bankruptcy proceedings.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing bankruptcy proceedings.
Oversee the administration of bankruptcy cases, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
Review and analyze bankruptcy filings, schedules, and other related documents.
Communicate with attorneys, courts, creditors, and other relevant parties involved in bankruptcy cases.
Coordinate with internal departments such as legal, finance, and operations to facilitate the bankruptcy process.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to bankruptcy cases.
Generate reports on the status of bankruptcy proceedings and present information to management as needed.
Stay informed about changes in bankruptcy laws and regulations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements and industry standards.
Work with legal professionals to negotiate settlements and resolutions in bankruptcy cases.
Assist in developing strategies to maximize recovery and minimize losses.
Monitor and manage timelines for bankruptcy activities to ensure timely and efficient completion.
Implement strategies to expedite the bankruptcy process when necessary.
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in bankruptcy law or finance may be advantageous.
Strong knowledge of bankruptcy laws, regulations and procedures.
Proven experience in bankruptcy, foreclosure or mortgage.
In-depth understanding of bankruptcy laws, regulations, and processes.
Familiarity with financial and accounting principles related to bankruptcy.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex financial information.
Proficient in using relevant software and tools for case management and documentation.
Physical Requirements
Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer.
Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
