Role Overview
It is the responsibility of the Default Manager to ensure the established default policies and procedures are adhered to in order to maintain delinquent loans and delinquency ratios at industry standards or below. This position is also responsible for ensuring bankruptcy cases are properly managed, loss mitigation procedures are followed, and foreclosure actions are started, reviewed, and concluded on a timely basis. All employees of MSF are expected to provide quality customer service and maintain high ethical standards when serving our clients.
Essential Duties: In addition to related job duties as assigned, this position will:
Assist in the development and maintenance of the default policies & procedures and operating manual(s) required for functions within responsibility area.
Ensure staff protects the privacy of the mortgagor(s) through strict enforcement of procedures on Non-Public Information (NPI) standards.
Ensure Bankruptcy Specialist and Foreclosure Specialist are operating in full compliance with investor, FHA, VA and private mortgage insurance providers guidelines and that no monetary losses result from noncompliance.
Ensure Bankruptcy Specialist and Foreclosure Specialist are operating in full compliance with RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, GLBA, UDAAP, all state licensing regulations, and any other pertinent regulations.
Establish a random review process to monitor bankruptcy and foreclosure notes for company standard and appropriate verbiage.
Ensure Bankruptcy Specialist (s) accurately and timely record new bankruptcy cases to tracking system.
Review loans in foreclosure (monthly), with Foreclosure Specialist to monitor progress of those cases.
Order property inspections, collection letters, and notices within time frames are sent out in appropriate guidelines.
Provide Hazard Insurance Manager with notification of vacant properties as are determined from various collection efforts.
Develop and administer late-hour staffing schedules necessary to cover all time zones.
Prepare ad hoc reports as required.
Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports and approve performance reviews for subordinate staff.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Bachelors degree in business related field plus a minimum of five (5) years experience in default servicing or a combination of education and seven (7) years of experience.
Strong experience with mortgage servicing system (LPS/MSP desired), and mortgage terminology.
Proven prior ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct work activities of others in a multi-tasking staff environment.
Ability to direct and motivate supervisory staff.
Ability to effectively operate the default component of servicing system(s).
Working knowledge of RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, GLBA, UDAAP, state licensing regulations, and any other pertinent regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Physical Requirements
Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer.
Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
