Classification : Exempt Reports to : Director of HR, Safety & Loss Control Job Created : 04 / 04 / 2024 Essential Functions : Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Completes safety audits for Houck Safety Inspections App should be used for daily reports. Reports sent to Safety Director, Supers, PM, VP, Pres, and put in the job file. Performs follow-up inspections to verify corrections of safety infractions. If a write-up is needed, please file (safety director should be notified). Assists with improving the safety environment by teaching classes, advising on safety procedures, new safety products, and revising work procedures. Coordinate with Safety Director and Division VP to ensure all personnel have appropriate training. Attends the various project safety meetings as required. Aids in the process of setting up projects by attending pre-construction meetings and completing the safety plan for the job that is consistent with corporate safety procedures when needed. Performs investigative research of close call incidents and possible means to eliminate or reduce the hazard. Investigates incidents and files reports on the AP. Coordinates with the Safety Director and sends the completed report to the Safety Director. Assists in the distribution of weekly toolbox talks. Performs weekly safety talks on each jobsite with the crew. Having the crew sign off on each week's talk. Other duties as assigned as they come up. Like handing out our background papers, delivering t-shirts, delivering stuff to field guys, etc. Communicate any incident, injury, or claim directly to the Director of Safety and collaborate on investigation, reporting to insurance, and remedial actions. Work hours should closely mimic field crew work hours. Help facilitate monthly crew meetings at the shop. Supply water and or refreshments, supply shade equipment and fans during hot weather to crews. Performing random drug tests as scheduled. Attend to operations meetings Competencies : Detail oriented. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment as well as on site at construction locations. The use of computers, printers, cell phones, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines is required. Other functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and / or airborne particles. The standard outdoor work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and / or cramped workspaces and awkward positions. The employee works around hazardous situations, materials and equipment. Physical Demands The described physical demands below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exert oneself physically over periods of time. Bend stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and other extremities. Use one's abdominal muscles and lower back to lift. Exert maximum muscle force to lift, pull, or carry objects. Keep or regain one's body balance or to stay upright. Quickly move the arms and legs. Make fast and repeated movements of the body, fingers and hands. Exert muscle force repeatedly. Keep the hand and arm steady while making a movement. Quick, coordinated movements of one hand to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects. Coordinate movements of two or more limbs together while sitting, standing, or lying down. Stand and walk throughout an extended workday. Use legs, hands and arms on a consistent basis. Climb and / or balance yourself. Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to carry and set up ladders up to 80lbs. in weight. Excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. Ability to clearly hear within speech range in an environment with construction noise. Kneel, squat, or bend consistently. Work outdoors.
