TITLE : Safety Technician REPORTS TO : EHS Manager Location : Victorville, CA GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY : This position will plan, implement, and coordinate SEAL programs to reduce or eliminate the following at the plant level : occupational injuries and illnesses, violations of federal and state safety regulations; abuse of the workers compensation system; and financial losses from above. Also develop and coordinate programs to improve the new hire orientation and training processes in the facility. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance. Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures. Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met. Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing. Interview managers, supervisors, and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents. Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes. Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety such as safety team, department managers / supervisors, and safety inspectors. Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated. Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents. CLIMATE : Must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization's success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Some irregular hours required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : 3 years Safety experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment CSP, CHMM and CWCP certifications preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Business Acumen, Leadership, Presentation Skills Innovative Management, Interpersonal Savvy Superior teamwork skills Superior communication skills Conflict Management / Composure Planning & Organizing Initiative and follow up Judgment / Problem Solving; Technical Knowledge Negotiating skills Organizational agility / getting things done through others Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously Preferable Characteristics : Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Lean manufacturing experience. THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE MANAGEMENT TEAM. The California base pay range for this position is from $45,760 to $52,000. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position. Salary : $45,760 - $52,000
