Position: Business/Operations Manager
Reports to: Superintendent
Supervises: Director of Technology, Director of Maintenance, Director of Transportation, Director of Food Service, Health Services Supervisor, Deputy Treasurer,
Payroll, Accounts Payable, ECA Bookkeepers, All Classified Staff of the District
Evaluates: Director of Technology, Director of Maintenance, Director of Transportation, Director of Food Service, Health Services Supervisor, Deputy Treasurer,
Payroll, and Accounts Payable
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience in accounting, finance, or operations in business, education, or governmental agencies.
- Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Evaluation: Annually by the Superintendent
Job Goal: To assist in providing a quality educational program by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities delegated to the Business/Operations Manager.
Performance Responsibilities:
The Business/Operations Manager may be assigned other projects/responsibilities by the Superintendent. The performanceresponsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as Corporation Treasurer.
- Assist Superintendent in District operations.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment. Serve as a member of the administrative team.
- Assist in the preparation of the Board packet and provide financial updates and reporting to the Superintendent and Board.
- Prepare requested documents, information, and inquiries in a timely and organized manner.
- Work collaboratively with the Superintendent to develop and implement the corporation budget that meets State requirements and District goals.
- Follow State and Board policies and guidelines for bidding and purchasing.
- Ensure department compliance with local, state, and federal entities. Supervise the operation of the departments of the District within the approved budget appropriations.
- Participate in all Collective Bargaining procedures.
- Work with the Business Department to maintain and monitor all systems associated with corporation financial accounts. Initiate and direct procedures for establishing and maintaining the accurate accounting, auditing and reporting policies and regulations of all financial activities in accordance with local and state codes and regulations.
- Ensure all required local, regional, state and federal forms and reporting requirements related to financial, debt, and operations are maintained, accurate, and submitted by the submission deadlines.
- Maintain all investments, bonds, debt, contracts, securities, titles, and records carried by the District.
- Ensure proper training for those you supervise.
- Initiate and direct procedures and criteria for the effective and efficient performance evaluation of non-certified personnel.
- Participate in IASBO trainings and other regional/state meetings.
- Collaborate regularly with the Superintendent on matters of importance related to District financial and operational activity.
- Use data, planning, and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.
- Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters.
- Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Tactfully, honestly, and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff. Candidly and professionally address and resolve conflicts.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
