Primary Purpose of Position
To serve in the capacity of the Systems Support Technician and perform the appropriate essential functions and responsibilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of computer operating systems.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of WAN/LAN.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of network and application servers, i.e., DNS, DHCP, email, Skyward, domain controllers, etc.
- Recommend and maintain up-to-date software in the labs.
- Set up and install new computer equipment.
- Diagnose, configure, maintain, repair, and support computer hardware equipment, both instructional and administrative in a timely manner.
- Install replacement hardware components in existing computer software.
- Install, diagnose, and/or maintain new and existing computer software.
- Patch and update Operating Systems and Applications.
- Install cabling and electronics for LAN/WAN systems.
- Configure, maintain and support remote/e-Learning applications and equipment.
- Test and deploy computer images.
- Assist with maintaining and repairing audio-visual equipment.
- Install, configure, and support telephones.
- Maintain and respond to helpdesk tickets.
- Support 1:1 device (inventory, white glove, maintain, repair, distribute).
- Manage and support printers in designated schools.
- Support other schools as may be assigned.
- Ensure the MSDWT Learning Management System application is functioning and accessible to users.
- Engage in job-related technology training to improve knowledge and performance.
- Perform student health and safety-related tasks necessary for a particular student or students including, but not limited to, health care services related to students with diabetes, basic life support, therapeutic, and sanitary service, and taking other actions reasonably necessary to prevent harm or injury to a student as determined by the student’s Individual Health Plan (IHP), Individual Education Plan (IEP), or 504 Plan.
- Assist the Principal of your designated school with IT-related functions.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Technology Officer and Manager of IT User Services.

- Highly developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to relate to students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community.
- Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and conflict avoidance.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with the ability to effectively prioritize.
- Ability to work independently and within a team while maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Possess highly developed technical skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree in a computer-related field or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- CompTIA A , Network , and Security are preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills.
Experience:
- Background and training in computer operation support services.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally, the employee must lift and/or move up to fifty (50) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and objects, and providing oral information. Requires the ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Involves limited travel.
Working Environment
Educational building and office environment with a personal computer, files, and shelves overhead and below the work surface. Use of standard office equipment, (i.e., telephone, fax, copier).
