Monsignor Clarke School is seeking a responsible, creative, and enthusiastic person to serve as a part time. (M, Wed, Th, F) school hours (8:00 am - 3:10 pm)
Position Overview:
The Art teacher implements the daily instructional plans in an appropriate and effective manner. The music teacher maintains a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth and establishes effective rapport with pupils while maintaining proper classroom management. The teacher works effectively with the building administrator and other teachers.The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence acknowledges that the Catholic School employee is vital to the educational mission of the Church. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching art to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, with a focus on fostering creativity, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the arts in a Catholic school environment. The Art Teacher will inspire students to explore their artistic abilities, develop their skills, and express themselves through various art mediums
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach age-appropriate art curriculum for students in grades K-8.
Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, tools, and materials, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
Integrate art history and cultural awareness into lessons to enhance students' understanding of the world’s artistic traditions.
Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression through hands-on projects.
Create a positive, inclusive, and organized classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
Manage student behavior in a way that promotes respect and a focus on learning.
Provide ongoing feedback to students and parents.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and project completion.
Work closely with other faculty members to support cross-curricular initiatives and school-wide events.
Participate in school events, exhibitions, and special projects, such as art shows or holiday celebrations.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience teaching art to elementary and middle school students, preferably in a Catholic school setting.
Strong understanding of art techniques, tools, and media, and the ability to teach these to a wide range of student abilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and parents.
