What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner - Wound Care position at MSH?
Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assigned to Skilled Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living Locations to provide wound care services
- Conduct weekly rounds with partner wound care nursing staff to provide direct patient care
- Operate Ultra MIST device in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities
- Collaborate with partner facility staff for continuous care
- Facilitate new patient consultations and health history reviews
- Perform physical examinations, assessments, and screenings of wound care patients
- Lift and move patients appropriately to avoid injury
- Order diagnostic tests, including bloodwork, EKG, and vascular exams
- Review and interpret test results
- Diagnose health problems
- Detect changes in patient condition or wounds and provide appropriate direction and documentation
- Operate medical equipment and properly dispose of supplies according to company policy
- Recommend further treatment options and discuss with collaborating physicians
- Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary
- Offer care information and resources to patients and their families
- Accurately chart and document within the EMR (Wound Expert) System
- Consult with other healthcare professionals as needed
- NO WEEKENDS / NO CALL
- MONDAY TO FRIDAY 7AM-3PM
Nurse Practitioner Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
- Master’s degree in Nursing required
- Current State of New Jersey Nurse Practitioner license required
- Current State of New Jersey Registered Nurse license required
- Prescriptive authorization required
- 1 years of Nurse Practitioner experience required
- 1 years of wound care experience required
- 1 years of SNF/ALF experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Proficiency with medical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Familiarity with EMR medical charting systems
- Proficiency in computer-based programs
