Key Responsibilities
- Develop, supervise and mentor a growing team of claims analysts handling Financial Lines claims, including, but not limited to, D&O, E&O, Blends, IMI policy types.
- Direct handling or involvement in certain high-stakes or complex claims.
- Responsible for quality control with respect to claims handling procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and escalate complex and high-severity claims to Senior Management in Claims and Underwriting.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships within Underwriting units and provide insights into claim trends.
- Coach and support professional development of claims analysts.
- Review and update claims handling guidelines and conduct training to ensure the following:
- Claim Handling. Timely and thorough investigations, liability and exposure analysis.
- Coverage. Independent coverage evaluation and drafting clear, concise coverage position letters.
- Financial. Timely reserve evaluations and recommendations.
- Resolution. Proactive settlement and resolution.
- Broker and Customer Relations:
- Support Underwriting and Distribution colleagues and business development efforts through meetings and presentations to brokers and other key distribution stakeholders.
- Engage with brokers and customers, providing updates on claims progress and facilitating collaborative resolutions.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with distribution partners, and establish reputation for professionalism, commerciality, and reliability
- Represent the company as an expert in Financial Lines insurance claims.
- Attend industry conferences, seminars, and events to stay informed on trends and build relationships with other professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. and/or industry qualifications such as CPCU desired.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing Financial Lines claims.
- Deep knowledge of Financial Lines products.
- Strong understanding of claims processes for Financial Institutions, Private Equity firms, Asset Managers, and large Commercial entities.
- Clear Communicator in written work product and presenting to stakeholders.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with a history of fostering positive relationships with brokers, customers and executives.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a dynamic caseload in a high-stakes environment.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other Specialty Lines is a plus – for example, Cyber, Surety, Political Risk & Trade Credit, Transactional (Reps & Warranties) and Tax.
- Personnel management, team leadership or professional mentorship.
- Advanced certifications in insurance or financial lines claims handling.
