The Underwriter will be responsible for producing, underwriting, and servicing builders risk insurance for the construction industry. This role involves evaluating and assessing risk, pricing insurance products, and maintaining relationships with construction brokers to build a profitable book of business. The Underwriter will focus on individual accounts within delegated authority and provide excellent customer service to brokers and clients.

Underwriting & Risk Management (50%)

Essential Functions
Underwriting & Risk Management (50%)
- Underwrite builders risk and related Inland Marine classes, including contractors' equipment, riggers liability, installation projects, and transportation risks, within assigned authority.
- Evaluate risk exposure, apply appropriate pricing techniques, and manage coverage to ensure profitable underwriting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting files and systems in line with department guidelines.
- Monitor underwriting results, market developments, and loss trends to ensure profitability and effective risk management.
- Maintain and grow existing accounts by developing strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Develop new business opportunities aligned with the company’s risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
- Provide timely, professional service to clients and brokers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Represent the company positively in the marketplace through effective communication and service.
- Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferred. CPCU or other insurance designations are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience in builders risk or related lines, with a proven ability to assess risk and manage accounts profitably.
- Strong understanding of construction-related risks and insurance coverage.
- Ability to apply technical underwriting knowledge to make sound decisions.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
