Full Time, Day, Evening, and Overnight Shift Available
4/10hr shifts with rotating weekends
Day: 6a-4:30p; Evening: 1:30pm-12a; Overnight: 8:30pm-7a
Angell Animal Medical Center has openings in our Inpatient Services Department for Animal Care Attendants. This position would provide essential support to technical and medical staff, along with providing excellent hands-on care to our patients. Overview of Training Program
Our attendant training program is designed to set each individual up for success and help them reach their career goals here at Angell. Each attendant will advance through the three levels as they learn and obtain the necessary foundational skills required to excel in their role. Attendants will receive a more in-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine and have the opportunity for continued education. Participating in this program is a unique opportunity to start your journey in the field of veterinary medicine!
Responsibilities of an Attendant
Initial responsibilities include hospital orderly tasks, such as laundry and setting up patient beds, cleaning wards and kennels, stocking (food, medications, and supplies), accurately documenting medical records in the digital treatment sheets.
Additional training will allow attendants to provide more direct patient care, such as practicing safe, fear free restraint for medical procedures, walking our patients, bathing and cleaning patients, feeding, icing, nebulizing, etc.
Expectations of Attendant Position
An individual who is interested in veterinary medicine and the daily operations of a large-scale animal medical center will excel in this role. The ability to multitask and prioritize patient needs are important aspects of this position, as well as the ability to work independently and as a team. In addition, you must expect to lift and restrain pets up to 50 pounds and stand for most of the day.
Each day is entirely different, so you will need good time management skills, flexibility and adaptability to excel in this role. You must be able to work professionally and effectively in emergency situations that may sometimes be emotionally upsetting. It is essential for attendants to recognize and report when an animal is unstable or in distress and quickly respond and/or alert the appropriate staff of the situation.
Compensation
Compensation starting at $18/hour with opportunities for advancement. Shift differentials offered for evening and overnight shifts.
