The Electrical Hardware Display Engineer will apply engineering principles to develop innovative designs that solve complex technical challenges. This role focuses on the electrical design of Display Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs) for advanced display systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for display products.
- Support all phases of hardware development, from concept through production, including requirements analysis, design, debugging, testing, and qualification.
- Lead the design, development, and testing of electronic hardware, components, and subsystems.
- Develop detailed circuit board specifications, LRU-level specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and test plans.
- Create circuit card assembly (CCA) schematics, define layout guidelines, and support CCA layout design.
- Select and procure electronic components while overseeing prototype hardware builds.
- Participate in concurrent engineering reviews and trade studies.
- Develop and implement engineering design fixes and coordinate solutions.
- Conduct technology research, feasibility assessments, and define detailed hardware design requirements.
- Develop concepts to support advanced technology initiatives, internal research and development (IRAD) efforts, proposals, and prototype demonstrations.
- Maintain strong record-keeping practices, including tracking design changes, debugging status, and hardware/software revisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (equivalent experience considered).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a similar role.
- Display Technology Expertise: Knowledge and hands-on experience with LCD, OLED, and LED display technologies.
- LCD Backlight & Optics: Familiarity with LCD backlight design and optical film technologies.
- Display Metrology: Experience using measurement tools and techniques for display performance evaluation.
- Graphics & Video Processing: Proficiency in FPGA-based graphics/video processing implementations.
- FPGA & I/O Bus Design: Experience with FPGA I/O bus interfaces such as PCI, Ethernet, CAN, USB, and RS-232/422/485.
- FPGA Tools & Platforms: Prefer experience with Xilinx ISE, EDK, Mentor Graphics ModelSim, and Altera/Quartus development tools.
- Circuit Design: Strong background in analog and digital circuit design, including video/graphics interfaces.
- Embedded Systems: Experience working with microcontrollers, single-board computers, and graphics controllers/interfaces.
- Video Distribution Techniques: Knowledge of display technologies and video signal distribution methods.
- Standards & Compliance: Familiarity with military standards and test requirements is a plus.
- Development & Test Tools: Ability to effectively utilize engineering development and test tools.
- Work Environment: Must meet ASR requirements for working inside vehicles. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required for critical tasks.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and excellent multitasking capabilities.
