What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional - Functional Life Skills position at Mt. Ararat Middle School?
*Any tier of paraprofessional credential will be considered for this role. The district also accepts applications from candidates who have a paraprofessional credential in-progress.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Based on Student need, instruct individuals 1 on 1 or small groups of students under the indirect supervision of a teacher
- Prepare instructional materials
- Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by classroom teacher or designee
- Manage behavior according to IEP and behavior plans
- May be required to assist students with mobility constraints, included but not limited to lifting students
REQUIREMENTS:
- Department of Education Educational Technician I,II or III Authorization or able to obtain
- Behavioral Health Professional certification preferred
- Mandt trained or able to train
- Strong behavioral management skills, ability to consistently follow and implement positive behavior support plans
- Demonstrated record keeping skills
- Proven ability to function as a team member
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

- Lifting/Carrying: 3-5 hours, up to 50 pounds
- Pushing/Pulling/Sliding: 1-2 hours
- Climbing Up & Down Stairs: 1-2 hours
- Reaching Overhead: 1-2 hours
- Bending/Twisting: 3-5 hours
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: 1-2 hours
- Hands/Arms/Finger Dexterity/Hand Gripping: 6-8 hours
