What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Residential Energy Auditor position at MT Building Services?
At MT Weatherization, Inc, our Energy Auditor’s role is to audit the house as a system, determine the amount of energy used, make recommendations and reduce costs and improve comfort for our customers. Inspectors perform their audits in residential homes of all sizes and identify opportunities to improve consumption of energy and reduce carbon or environmental footprints.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Energy Audit at the client’s home according to detailed format which includes entering attics, basements, crawl spaces, and assessing HVAC systems
- Performing various technical tests: blower door, pressure, heating system efficiency etc.
- Assessing and documenting the condition of the thermal envelope.
- Educating the client whenever possible to obtain energy savings.
- Communicate with customers explaining the entire process of the audit. What will be done and what was done when the audit is completed.
- Determine areas of possible health and safety dangers.
- Installing some energy savings measures such as LED bulbs, efficient flow aerators, efficient flow showerheads, tank wrap
- Review scheduled jobs 3 days prior to their scheduled date.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning and calibrated in order to complete the job.
- Ensure work is completed within the allotted time frame.
- Manage the paper flow process and ensure each audit is documented completely and meets utility requirements.
- Reflect a positive attitude, good communication skills, and friendly demeanor with all customers and homeowners.
- Verify job completion and quality of work during and after audit. Document with camera.
- Report all necessary job notes on file for the office manager to review.
- Attend training courses and conferences.
- Maintain certifications as required by MT Weatherization
Minimum & Physical Requirements:
- One year in Energy Assessments or Weatherization experience required
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification
- Background in Building Science (preferred)
- Current and valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to and from Harrisburg office location
- Must be comfortable driving 1-3 hours to and from job sites
- Ability to drive commercial vehicles such as a work van and/or box truck
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions - inside and outside - year round
- Must be able to enter and perform job duties within confined spaces
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to work in homes of deteriorating conditions
- Monday - Friday, 1st shift availability
