Peer Navigator Mission: Support the vision and goals of Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center (VSC) by providing non-clinical case management and employment navigation services to military, veterans and their families while representing the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Transition and Employment (T&E) Departmental Responsibilities: Peer Navigator responsibilities include managing a complex portfolio of clients while maintaining accurate client follow up sustainment reports, case notes, forms and charts through phone calls, emails, and in person sessions to increase retention rates and positively affect employment rates. Networking with hiring managers and recruiters and reaching out to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses and dependents over the age of 18. Conducting mock interviews and resume reviews with clients and facilitating events. Encouraging and facilitating client career skills development activities through available resources and funding. This position supports the mission of Mt. Carmel VSC by providing non-clinical case management and employment navigation services to military, veterans and their families while representing the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.

Main Responsibilities:
Clients
· Provide services to veterans and military affiliates within the local community to ease transition from military to civilian sector of employment.
· Conduct intake assessments with 3-5 prospective clients weekly to devise vocational strategic plan and identify historical employment data, credentials, and individualized goals.
· Assist clients in navigating and linking them to apply for resources needed and linking them to wrap around services that Mt. Carmel VSC and other community partners can provide.
· Provide one-on-one, telephone, video teleconferencing, and email assistance to assess barriers to clients post military employment goals.
· Create a plan of action to assess clients’ barriers.
· Facilitate training and resource panels for active-duty personnel at military installations in the local area.
· Conduct follow-ups with clients to ensure services are assessed, identify and assist with additional services and track outcomes for clients.
· Communicate with community partners on behalf of clients while advocating their needs.
· Remain diligent with clients until case is resolved.
· Maintain client records and input into database(s). Case notes and follow-up calls must be made within 2 business days.
Community
· Knowledge of an array of resources and continued awareness to remain current on resource availability, resource accessibility guidelines to include but not limited to: community resources, veterans’ benefits, family programs, career development, legal, educational benefits, child care, financial resources, and wrap around services provided at Mt. Carmel VSC.
· Attend meetings in the community as instructed by the Director of Transition and Employment.
· Attend hiring events, resource fairs and networking events as instructed by Director of Transition and Employment.
· Research and explore community partner options to assist clients and strengthen T&E programs.
General Support
· Ensure a high level of customer service, engagement, and graciousness to clients.
· Ability to develop and maintain working, professional relationships with Mt. Carmel VSC staff, partners and referral agencies.
· Ability to empathetically work with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
· Work some nontraditional hour, including evenings, weekends, as necessary and required for this position.
· Attend meetings in absence of Director Transition and Employment and/or Senior Peer Navigator.
· Perform all additional duties as necessary and directed by Director of Transition and Employment.
Essential Aptitude & Qualifications
· Good verbal and written communication skills, including tact and diplomacy when dealing with staff, partners, referral agencies, and clients.
· Experience working with military, non-profit organizations, including knowledge of local military and veteran resources.
· Knowledge and experience in providing employment assistance (preferred).
· Non-clinical case management experience (preferred).
· Must have served honorably in the US Military, in an Active Duty, Guard or Reserve component.
· Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
· Must be able to pass a background and drug test.
· Must be able to gain unescorted entry to military facilities.
Education/Experience
· Min of High School Diploma or GED required.
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
· Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
· Knowledge of CRM systems or database systems.
