Job Summary:
As a Shop Laborer, your responsibilities will include performing housekeeping duties in the offices, bathrooms, shop floors, and surrounding shop areas. This role demands a candidate who is safety-focused.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Clean and sanitize office and bathroom areas
- Clean shop interior and exterior areas
- Assist foremen in the organization and placement of shop tools and equipment
- Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, ladders, and step stools
- Assist the parts department in picking up or delivering parts and supplies
- Inventory all chemicals needed for cleaning and sanitizing
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- You have ideally completed high school or equivalent
- You have the ability to communicate effectively with management and co-workers
- Being a team player is essential for this role, working closely with others
Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job in a safe and alert manner: frequent standing and walking, moving, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and proper utilization of PPE
- Availability to work different work schedules if needed; facilities operate from 3:00am 12:00am
- Possible rotation to alternative work facilities as needed; Concord, Pittsburg, and Antioch
- Ability to work overtime as requested
Environmental and Hazardous Conditions:
- Potential chemical burns/irritations and respiratory injuries from improper handling of chemical products.
- Potential muscle strain, crush, pinch, cut, and ergonomic injury exposures.
- Potential exposure to fire, flying sparks and particulate debris, hot surfaces, and chemicals that can cause irritation.
- Exposure to pedestrian traffic, exhaust fumes, uneven surfaces, and moving equipment/vehicles at site.
- Risk of dropping objects on feet and potential electrocution when handling energized equipment.
- Potential for slips, trips, and falls and hazards associated with improperly handling materials causing strains.
- Intermittent exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Exposure to pressurized equipment and tires.
- Exposure to traffic risks on roadways when performing road calls including collisions with other vehicles and pedestrian traffic.
