Job Title : Nurse Educator

Guaranteed Hours : Experience :
Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience with at least 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty such as ER, ICU, OB, or OR
At least 1 year with nursing supervisory responsibilities
3 years of instructor experience, preferably at the hospital or college level
License :
Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state
Certifications :
ACLS, BLS, and PALS instructor certification
ACLS, PALS, and NRP
Must-Have :
Background in education
Active nursing license
All relevant vaccinations
Job Description :
- Maintain an ongoing nursing education program to meet regulatory requirements.
- Assure nursing competency for all assigned staff, including new hires.
- Provide support services to internal and external customers with the latitude for independent decision-making.
- Design, teach, and evaluate training programs.
- Act as an internal training and organizational development consultant.
- Provide career development resources.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, and administer clinical specialty training programs, including human patient simulator training.
- Ensure educational activities align with organizational mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.
- Promote standards of excellence within the organization.
- Coordinate and ensure the quality of the nursing service orientation program.
- Assist in integrating new learning into nursing practice and serve as a resource for educational problem-solving.
- Teach components of patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, and implementation.
- Focus on patient and family-centered care, considering developmental, age-appropriate, and cultural relevance.
- Provide nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of patients and families.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in patient care delivery.
- Ensure orientation to standards and competencies and oversee the orientation process.
- Introduce policies and procedures relevant to skill levels.
- Coordinate with nurse managers to ensure consistency in area-specific orientation programs.
- Oversee coordination of various certification programs.
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of educational activities.
- Facilitate communication regarding continuing education opportunities.
- Participate in and apply evidence-based research to improve professional development and patient outcomes.
- Assist learners in identifying learning needs and fostering a positive attitude toward lifelong learning.
- Support the integration of research into practice and help develop staff knowledge and skills.
- Act rapidly and effectively in any emergency and fulfill assignments during hospital emergency events.
- Attend and participate in Nurse Executive Committee meetings and nursing service goal setting.
- Maintain certifications, licensure, and complete annual competencies and evaluation materials.
- Address employee concerns consistent with Human Resources policy.
