Position Title: Utility Presser
Department: Cleaners
General Position Summary
Mt Hood Cleaning is seeking an experienced Dry Cleaning Presser to work in a busy processing plant. Previous experience is perferred, but not required. We will train the right candidate!
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Prepare cleaned garments for pressing and ironing.
- Responsible for identifying and marking garments for repairs and stains.
- Presses and irons garments according to company productivity and quality standards and customer specifications.
- Identifies stained pieces of clothing that need to be re-cleaned.
- Operates machinery according to company specifications and safety rules. Visually identifies piece specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Hangs pressed garments on wire hanger; places piece hooks on completed items for piece rate pay.
- Places hung garments on the racks for assembly.
- Performs other duties as assigned by general manager and other management.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous machinery operation experience.
- 1-3 Years' experience as a Presser in a dry cleaning environment, preferred.
- Ability to manually operate various machinery including utility steam presser, double cuff presser, hand iron. "Susie"
- Ability to visually identify company's color coded tags for pressing and ironing specifications.
- Ability to lift, reach and grab garments and other materials as needed.
- Ability to work standing for 6-8 hours per day.
- Ability to withstand heat and high temperatures that could reach 90 to 100 degrees dues to machinery and plant conditions.
Preferred Skills (not required)
- Interest in learning multiple departments within production. (i.e. Shirt pressing, pants Pressing, wash and fold, dry cleaning, finishing)
