JOB SUMMARYProvides coaching, mentoring, training and technical assistance and resources to classroom staff. Oversees projects relating to child development services and disabilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIESPosition Specific Duties1. Provides coaching, mentoring, training and/or technical assistance to classroom staff on classroom environments, curriculum, ongoing assessment, social-emotional development, and staff/child interactions to classroom staff.2. Participates in ongoing monitoring of the education service area using evidence-based observation tools and assigned self-assessment activities.3. Observes assigned classrooms and provides feedback to staff and program management.4. Maintains assigned ongoing child assessment database. Provides staff training and technical support related to ongoing assessment and positive child outcomes.5. Assists in supporting systems to coordinate and manage classroom materials, equipment, and resources.6. Facilitates and provides training for volunteers to work in the classrooms.7. Assists in supporting systems relating to disabilities services to assure timely and appropriate services to children.8. Coordinates and works as a team with program staff, management and consultants.9. Keeps current on best practices and trends in child development and areas relating to childhood care and education.General Duties1. Reports suspected child abuse in accordance with Oregon Statute and Head Start procedures.2. Attends training sessions and participates in training opportunities.3. Supports and encourages parent involvement.4. Maintains the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.5. Interacts with children, families and community members in a supportive and professional manner.ADDITIONAL DUTIES1. Substitutes as a Teacher on a temporary basis as assigned.2. Performs all other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum Qualifications· Baccalaureate (BA or BS), or advanced degree (M.A., M.S., Ed.D.) in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Early Intervention and a Step 10 or higher in the Oregon Registry; OR· Baccalaureate (BA or BS), or advanced degree (M.A., M.S., Ed.D) in a related field such as Elementary Education, Human Development; Child Psychology; Special Education; Liberal Studies; Home Economics; Child and Family Studies; etc. (not limited to these degrees) and a Step 10 or higher in the Oregon Registry.· Three years of experience teaching children from birth to age five.· Advanced knowledge of and experience working with the Pan-African American/Black communities demonstrated by knowledge of the traditions, values, and customs of Pan- African American/Black communities as well as the ability to identify specific examples of experience working directly with individuals and families who identify as Pan- African American/Black.· Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods.· Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the College’s community, students and employees; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity.· Current driver’s license, insurance, and access to a reliable automobile during work hours for transportation to off-campus sites. Must have at least three (3) years of driving history.Preferred Qualifications· Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Early Intervention· Bilingual skills: oral and written fluency in English with fluency also in Spanish, Russian or another language that meets community/department’s needs

WORKING CONDITIONSWorks assigned schedule and exhibits regular and predictable attendance. As necessary to meet workload demands, works outside of typical schedule, including evening/weekend hours. Work may require travel to off-campus locations. Work is sometimes performed in an emotional and stressful environment.
