Skibowl Ski School Ski and Snowboard Instructors Positions
Currently Hiring for the 2023-2024 Winter Season:
6 Full-Time Ski or Snowboard Instructors
2 options:
- 5 days a week, 40 hours, Fri-Sun plus 2 additional days (holidays included)
- 5 days a week, 30 hours, Mon-Fri (holidays included)
- 3 days a week, 28 hours, Fri-Sun (holidays included)
- 4 days a week, 24 hours, 4 days Mon-Fri (holidays included)
10 Part-Time Ski or Snowboard Instructors
- Flexible schedule for Mon-Sun and Holidays
- 16 days season commitment
Description
Under the supervision of the Ski School managers, you will provide instruction and assist in the learning of first time, next step, intermediate group and private lessons. Instructors will promote the Olympic Ski and Snowboard School as the most safe and effective way of learning to Ski and Snowboard. Instructors are responsible for maintaining the highest level of professionalism as a steward of the resort and representative of the Olympic Ski School at SkiBowl. Instructors are dedicated to maintaining the most conducive environment for learning to Ski and Snowboard. Instructors communicate with students, guest and fellow employees in a professional manner; in accordance with Mt. Hood SkiBowl's standards for Customer Service, both on and off the job.
Essential Job Functions
- Be familiar with PSIA and AASI Standards for Ski and/or Snowboard Instruction
- Ability teach Skiing and/or Snowboarding lessons in a private or group setting, adults and minors alike, first timers to experts
- Assist in preparation of learning areas
- Learn lift procedures for participants and how to operate the conveyor belt
- Must attend instructor clinics
- Proper and timely communication with appropriate staff members
- Develop knowledge and performance of Ski and/or Snowboard safety procedures, before, during and after lessons, upon completion of training
- Maintain proper documentation according to policy and procedures
- Ongoing assessment of on-hill situations to provide crew and guest service's assistance
- Maintain safe and sterile Ski and Snowboard instructor area in Ski and Snowboard School Building and follow Safety procedures and guidelines
- Knowledge, performance, and enforcement of all Mt. Hood SkiBowl, LLC, operating and emergency procedures, upon completion of training
- Maintain positive interaction and communication with guests and co-workers

Requirements
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to deal with high volumes of people in a friendly and courteous manner, in an occasionally hectic environment, maintaining composure when faced with a potentially stressful situation
- Able to work holidays and weekends
- Adhere to personal hygiene policies of Mt. Hood SkiBowl, LLC
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- High Intermediate or Advanced Skiing/Snowboarding or Riding Skills
- Punctuality
- Flexibility with daily lesson schedules and last minute changes
- Work well as part of a team
- Must be organized
- PSIA/AASI certification a plus
- Teaching/Instructing experience is a plus
- Experience working with children is a plus

Pay
$15.50- $17.00Dependent on experience

School Hours
8:30am - 6:30pm Friday-Sunday and Holidays
2:30pm - 8:30pm Monday-Thursday
