Qualifications: Applicants must be high school graduates or the recipient of a GED or equivalence diploma. Possess a valid State of Illinois driver’s license; State of Illinois Paramedic license. Must be in good standing with your current EMS region/system. Must be current in all applicable card courses. (CPR, PHTLS, PALS, ACLS or equivalent when required). Employees are encouraged to reside within the Mt. Morris Fire Protection District; however, it is not a requirement. Applicants must complete a drug test and background check.
Compensation: Base EMT-Basic compensation is $20.00 per hour, 24 hour shift at 121 shifts a year $66,560.00, plus overtime opportunities and benefits. Benefits of paid vacation, holiday pay, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance as well as a matching 457 retirement plan.
Job Duties: Shifts are 24 hours on and 48 hours off. Full-time Employees are required to be at the station for their scheduled hours while on shift. As an EMT-Basic you will be actively involved in patient care. There are daily, weekly and monthly station chores that are to be completed on their assigned days.
Experience:
- Must have a valid Illinois EMT-Basic certification/license.
- Strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures, protocols, and equipment.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform heavy lifting and maneuvering of patients.
