Summary
Independently assess and administer first aid as well as offer referrals on both occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses. Advocates health and wellness principles to support team members on a daily basis. Refers care to outside medical providers as needed, and learn about OSHA regulations, risk, and analysis. Function as a part of the larger team onsite, assisting with all first aid needs wellness initiatives and support safety operations as needed.
Essential Functions
- Provide first aid support and make referrals to outside medical providers as necessary.
- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.
- Assist with new hire, random and for cause saliva drug testing protocols.
- Minimize the associates’ risk of injury through awareness, education, and proactive engagement.
- Maintain all records of care provided to associates.
- Coordinate and maintain the workers’ compensation and return to work programs for associates with work-related injuries.
- Provide daily activity logs and end of shift reports.
- Engage with associates and leadership on operations floor to provide coaching regarding observed at-risk work habits.
- Maintain a clean working environment and ensure appropriate medical supply inventory is maintained.
- Participate in training and certification to facilitate first aid, CPR and AED certifications classes.
- Work with onsite nurses, HR and Safety to help with health, wellness and safety program events.
- Maintain all first aid, CPR, AED credentials.
- Work flexible shifts which could include days, nights, and/or weekends.
- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.
- Serves on the Safety Committee and suggests topics for safety training, reporting any violation of safety rules and unsafe acts
- Assists nurse(s) with required trainings for First Responders, including but not limited to CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and First Aid
- Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements as applicable.
- Applies knowledge of principles of universal precautions. Routinely uses personal protective equipment and infection control barriers or devices to avoid risk of exposure to self and others.
- Performs other work as directed by VP of HR.

Telephone console, personal computer, two-way radio, standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
Medium Work - Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Majority of time is worked in office/clinic environment. Depending on task may also occasionally work in various temperatures including hot, cold, wet and humid environments.
Strength – Occasionally must be able to lift up to (40lbs);
Motion – Sitting and desk work will be required up to 60%. Ability to walk, stand and climb stairs. Some bending, crouching, stooping may be required. Ability to ride in/on a golf type cart; Ability to reach, grab, pull, push, manipulate equipment in office work including phone, fax, copier and computer, etc.
Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must have good vision and hearing;
Work Environment- Work environment will be mainly inside the facility. Office setting and climate-controlled facility. Possible hot or cold work outside and in plant location but very limited;
Emotional Demands – Employee expected to make quick decisions – Possible to be serious if health related. Must be able to communicate and speak in front of a group of people. Must be able to discuss sensitive or hard information with employees and be firm if necessary. Employee expected to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, etc.;
Safety – This is a safety sensitive position, and some PPE is required – safety glasses, boots, hearing protection in certain areas, and gloves.
Work Environment
Usual office working conditions. Access to CONFIDENTIAL DATA (ex. Medical records, WC files, etc.). Some exposure to plant conditions. Hairnet and earplugs required at times.

Requirements:REQUIREMENTS
- High School or equivalent diploma; AND
- Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by an approved emergency cardiac care (ECC) provider; AND
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License; AND
- Must have a strong understanding of emergency medical procedures and protocols and be able to work well under pressure, take direction well, be proficient at working independently, and have the ability to manage situations that require quick action; AND
- Current valid North Carolina EMT certification OR Paramedic Certification from NCDHHS OR the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT); OR
- In the last year, six months job experience in the Military as a Combat Medic (U.S. Army), Field Medic (U.S. Army), Healthcare Specialist (U.S. Army), Hospital Corpsman (U.S. Navy), or Aerospace Medical Service Technician (U.S. Air Force); AND
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with an industrial wellness program
- Experience managing musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomics, and coaching on body mechanics
- Demonstrated work experience with OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation
- Proficient in digital recordkeeping
