Job SummaryThe Marketing and Communications Manager is a vital part of the senior leadership team, responsible for crafting messages, materials, and processes that engage a variety of audiences—employees, donors, volunteers, corporations, guardians, and community partners. This role leads marketing and public advocacy initiatives across print, social/digital media, and online platforms. The Manager translates the organization’s strategic plan into actionable core strategies, creating processes that support organizational goals. They also help develop leaders and program staff into effective communicators. Additionally, the Manager works closely with the Board of Directors and/or Board Committees, including being an active member of the Board Development and Outreach Committee.

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres – MORA – is a diverse and inclusive nonprofit that has supported adults, seniors and children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs as well as age-related and chronic medical conditions for over 50 years in the Twin Cities metro. Due to continued growth in our Case Management department, we are seeking a Case Manager for clients in Hennepin, Anoka, & Dakota Counties. Office locations are in Chanhassen.

MORA provides an array of services: Adult Day Services, Contracted Case Management, Community Supports, over 30 Residential Homes, Respite, Therapeutic Recreation, Training for Guardians & Families, and a Discover Summer Daytime Programming for Youth with Disabilities. Our Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) offers a safety net of crucial and cost-effective services for adults and children.

Schedule: 40 hours, M-F daytime/business hours.


Starting Salary: $1,600 to $2,692 per pay period- DOQ. Plus a strong benefit package

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications:

 

  • Leads the development of communication strategies and actions to align with the organization’s strategic plan and other key initiatives.
  • Collaborates with key departments and staff (HR, IT, Finance, Nursing/Res./Rec.) to ensure effective internal and external communication.
  • Ensures messaging is consistent and continuously monitors core value communications to maintain alignment and coherence across the organization.
  • Designs and implements regular communication formats, including weekly Zoom calls, emails, monthly e-newsletters, and quarterly print newsletters.
  • Develops and manages communication timelines, routines, and templates to ensure a consistent cadence.
  • Researches and utilizes various communication processes and channels to make information accessible and engage staff and constituents at all levels.
  • Continuously tracks, evaluates, and improves communication strategies to enhance their effectiveness and reach.
  • Works closely with staff to coordinate the communication for MORA’s events involving external audiences, including development and production of invitations, guest lists, speakers / presentations, signage, on-site support, and any other needs as assigned.
  • Attends leadership and key strategy/committee meetings to identify and address communication needs, helping leaders manage time and maintain message consistency.
  • Supports engagement efforts aimed at improving participation rates and fostering trust in the process.
  • Leads the Communication and Marketing Committee, bringing together employees from all departments to identify communication needs and collaboratively strategize execution.

Marketing:
  • Oversees the representation and consistency of MORA’s messages and brand across all materials intended for external audiences.
  • Connects leaders from various service areas to ensure cohesive messaging and marketing across the entire organization.
  • Works to enhance the visibility of MORA’s mission and services throughout Minnesota.
  • Manages creative contractors involved in the development of marketing materials.
  • Collaborates with teams to plan, write, and design content for social media channels.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Board and Board Committees and is an active member of the Development and Outreach Committee.
Basic Requirements:
  • BA/BS in the communications field and at least 5 years’ experience
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA and MORA policies and procedures.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible hours (evening/weekend hours) to visit homes or attend events during times when staff are present
  • Completes required annual trainings to be present with clients
  • Experience engaging staff in multi-location company through designing and implementing effective internal communications
  • Ability to create processes to build strong communication skills, mobilize agency objectives through a strategic communication plan
  • Prior experience working within a nonprofit, human services organization
  • Ability to create and use videos to engage and communicate about organization’s opportunities, mission, challenges and successes.
  • Strong competence to respond timely and pivot smoothly to immediate needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, both internally and externally.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt messages for different cultural contexts.
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) to create visuals, and video editing tools (if needed).
  • Understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) software and email marketing tools. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and external vendors/agencies.
  • In-depth understanding of digital communication channels and social media platforms.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Awareness of the ethical implications of communication decisions.


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant area such as Communications, Business Administration, or Public Relations.
  • Understanding of media law, copyright, and confidentiality issues and the application thereof.
  • Strong ability and experience to develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Experience in crisis communication management: handling sensitive issues and managing reputational risks.
  • Ability to analyze communications effectiveness using metrics (e.g., media coverage, engagement rates, etc.) and enhance to align with organization’s current community impact levels.
  • Experience conducting interviews with other organization’s C-suite team members, legislators and public figures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal, written, and human communication skills
  • Excellent organization/project management skills
  • Experience with print and digital design (website, social media, newsletters, branding, etc.)
  • Proven track record of achieving agreed upon results
  • Proven track record of building strong, trusting relationships at all staff levels
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain “qualified” status.
  • Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General.
  • Must be able to successfully complete company’s physical job demands document.
  • Demonstrates mastery of computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license and must have insurance as required by state law.
