Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.
We are currently searching for a part-time Personal Trainer. The Personal Trainer plans and executes personal and group training sessions for users of the District's Fitness Facilities. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. The target starting pay range is $25-$27 per hour, depending on qualifications. Plus, District employees receive facility privileges.
Requirements : ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Administer and evaluate client health history questionnaires and physiological data to develop individual
exercise programs based on results from the clients assessments and stated goals and needs.
Monitor clients' exercise programs and make adjustments / improvements as needed.
Organize the records of each client’s training session and make them available to the Park District.
Submit personal training receipts and complete a timesheet for hours worked every two weeks.
Track sessions used for each client.
Be available for a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Lead equipment orientation sessions for new members at least twice per month.
Ensure client's adherence to safety and injury prevention policies and procedures; prepare accident reports
as required.
Check supplies and equipment for wear and tear and advise if supplies or equipment are in need of repair
or replacement.
Demonstrate leadership as a health and wellness professional.
Demonstrate a mature and professional attitude through dependability, punctuality and genuine
awareness.
Attend regular fitness meetings.
Be familiar with and abide by Park District policies and procedures.
SECONDARY DUTIES :
Additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential.
Contribute to the personal training online newsletter and in-house bulletin board.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Fitness Supervisor, Recreation Division Manager,
Director of Recreation, and / or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency perform all
duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must have a nationally accredited Personal Training certification from ACE, ACSM, NASM or AFAA
that must be maintained during your employment.
Must possess a minimum of one-year professional experience.
Must have advanced knowledge of fitness equipment, fitness trends and wellness knowledge.
Must have the ability to work with and understand the varying needs of patrons of a wide age range.
Must possess good time management and organization skills.
Must possess and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
Must be able to communicate effectively with others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of
work.
Must be reliable and display consistent attendance and work ethic. Must have the ability to work a
flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Attendance is an essential job
function of this position.
Must adhere to all Park District policies.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 45 pounds. Additionally,
must be able to push / pull, reach, balance on one leg, bend at waist (touch the floor with fingertips), climb,
crawl, crouch, sit, stoop and constantly handle objects.
Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours will be required. Your work
schedule may vary and your work week may exceed regular hours at times, but will be less than
1,000 hours per year.
