Job Summary:

The Lift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of all ski lift systems at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park This role leads a team of technicians and works closely with other departments to ensure all aerial and surface lift equipment is compliant with regulatory standards and ready for daily operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to guest and employee safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance of all chairlifts and surface lifts.
  • Lead and train lift maintenance personnel, ensuring proper procedures and safety protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and complete inspections as required by manufacturer, state, and federal regulations (e.g., ANSI B77).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues to minimize lift downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with Mountain Operations, Patrol, and Lift Operations teams to prepare lifts for daily operation.
  • Respond to lift malfunctions or emergencies, including afterhours situations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with resort policies, Cal/OSHA standards, and ski industry best practices.
  • Order and manage inventory of lift parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Support capital improvement projects related to lift infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or college degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 35 years of lift maintenance experience, with at least 12 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of ski lift systems, including fixedgrip chairlifts and surface lifts.
  • Familiarity with ANSI B77 code and other applicable regulations.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL or heavy equipment experience is a plus.
  • Certification from Lift Maintenance Training Programs is desirable.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in high alpine environments and extreme weather conditions.
  • Requires physical activity including climbing, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and standing for extended periods.
  • Variable work schedule including weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
