MATERIALS MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY
Receives stores and delivers supplies and equipment; maintains hospital owned patient care equipment and crash carts; labels patient charge supplies and ensures proper care and storage of supplies and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Receives supplies and equipment. Inventories/stocks supplies and equipment. Delivers supplies and equipment to various departments. Maintains/cleans Hospital-owned biomedical equipment. Maintains crash carts and their contents. Develops par levels of items in Utility Rooms on each Nursing unit. Labels patient-charge items. Notifies supervisor when Central Supply stock levels are low. Checks expiration dates on supplies. Maintains and cleans Central Supply, Clean and Dirty Utility Rooms.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred. Licensure, Certification and Registration Work Orientation and Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Area None Inventory/Storeroom experience preferred Ability to read, write, add and subtract Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to pull and move heavy loads Ability to lift maximum of fifty-one (51) pounds Ability to perform basic math computations in determining stock levels

Supervision Received Reports to the Purchasing Manager Supervision Exercised None
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Interacts daily with delivery personnel, patient care staff and other Hospital employees.
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
Pallet jack, computer, some hand tools, copier, telephone
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
Limited risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne disease. Employees are expected to exercise good judgment in the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol. Some exposure to housekeeping cleaning agents.
