Job Summary
MTech Mechanical is a leading mechanical design/build contractor in Colorado, and most of our project procurement is negotiated in a design assist/build arrangement. We are currently seeking a mid-level Mechanical Estimator to join our team as a member of our growing Estimating department. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Project estimates
- Prepare mechanical cost estimates for construction projects
- Consult with clients, vendors, and MTech personnel in various departments to discuss, review, and formulate project scope and estimates
- Analyze blueprints, one-line schematics, specifications, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare material, equipment, sub, and labor costs
- Collaborate with Pre-Construction personnel, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients on scope development and modifications throughout all phases of the project
- Fill-in design intent for conceptual and schematic level documents and estimate accordingly
- Create spreadsheets for evaluation and comparison of scope and cost items of a project
- Take a lead role in the coordination with other trades on the project team
- Attend project interviews to assist with the sales effort of a project
- Perform site visits to understand scope and logistics
- Regular and predictable in-office attendance is required for this position
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Preferred 5-10 years of sheet metal and mechanical systems experience with at least 5 years of estimating experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Field/trade experience preferred (sheet metal, plumbing, pipefitting)
- Design / build estimating experience preferred
- Trimble Autobid estimating system preferred, will consider other estimating program experience
- Strong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software
- Experience with fabrication EST MEP, 3D estimating software
- Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at different levels within the organization
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or independently, flexibility to adapt to changing needs/situations
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Resource management
- Attention to details
- Ability to conceptualize and fill-in design intent
- Demonstrated ability to track multiple projects at the same time, and to work under pressure, often to tight deadlines and with a minimum of supervision
