Job Summary
We are looking for a VP of Engineering who excels in team building, leadership, and execution. This role is critical in scaling our engineering team, ensuring efficient internal communication, and removing obstacles to maximize the success of our engineers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Build, mentor, and lead a diverse engineering team to achieve excellence.
- Develop a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and oversee performance management processes, including setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and managing career development.
- Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team of 50 engineers, including software developers, architects, and DevOps.
- Recruitment & Talent Development:
- Oversee the recruitment process to attract top engineering talent.
- Work closely with HR to develop and execute strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
- Establish mentorship programs and continuous learning initiatives to foster professional growth.
- Project Delivery & Operational Excellence:
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of engineering projects, aligning with company goals and timelines.
- Implement and refine processes and best practices to optimize development workflows, including agile methodologies.
- Identify and remove obstacles that hinder team productivity and project delivery.
- Internal Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the engineering teams and other departments, ensuring clear, consistent, and transparent communication.
- Collaborate with the CTO on strategic initiatives, technical direction, and product planning.
- Facilitate cross-functional initiatives to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
- Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, technical roadblocks, and interpersonal challenges within the teams.
- Promote a culture of open communication and problem-solving.
- Monitor key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Architect highly scalable, resilient cloud-based systems.
- Establish and enforce enterprise-grade engineering best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
- Assist in shaping the company’s technical strategy by providing insights from an operational and team management perspective.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering plans.
- Ensure that the team’s work aligns with customer needs and business goals.
Qualifications, and Experience
Education:
- MBA (with tech focus)
- MS in Computer Science/Software Engineering
Additional Certifications:
- AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications
- TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certifications
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
Experience:
- 10 years of engineering leadership experience
- Proven experience managing engineering functions with a focus on standards development, transformation and performance review processes
- Strong background in leading technical teams and delivering engineering solutions that drive process improvements and compliance
Skills:
- Expertise in engineering standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
- Strong leadership and team development abilities, with experience fostering innovation and continuous improvement
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
