What are the responsibilities and job description for the Earn & Learn Candidate position at MTH Pumps?
MTH/P&W Earn & Learn Program is based around the Waubonsee Community College Associates degree in Applied Sciences in Advanced Manufacturing Technology. This program would cover career pathways including, but not limited to:
• Machining (Manual and CNC Lathe and Milling)
• Quality control (Blueprint reading, Inspection & metrology)
• Engineering (materials and CAD)
• Manufacturing Engineering (Automation, CNC Programming and CAM)
The program is designed as a two-year program at approximately 15 credit hours per semester (not including Summer). All tuition, class fees, and books for the program will be paid for by the company. Classes are generally in the evening and meet at the Sugar Grove Campus and some may be available online.
The participant would work at MTH/P&W as a full-time employee, but class time and homework time would count towards the 40-hour work week. Working time is expected to make up approximately 50-60% of the normal 40-hour work week, but may vary according to class load.
During the two years of schooling, participants will be rotated to different job roles within the organization to broaden their exposure to other possible career paths at MTH Pumps. These rotations may include assembly & testing, deburring, inspection, tool room machining, CNC machining & programming, Engineering, Sales, and various positions in our metal casting foundry (P&W).
If accepted into the Earn & Learn program, the participant’s starting full time wage is $16/hr which then increases to $17/hr after 90 days. Throughout the 2-year program, the employee would receive four wage increases of $1.50/hr each after the completion of 15, 30, 45 and 60 credit hours. Upon successful completion of the program and attaining your degree, you will be earning at least $23/hr. The employee will then be scheduled to take a week long Integrex machine tool training at the manufacturer’s facility in Florence, Kentucky which upon successful completion will result in an additional $1/hr raise to at least $24/hr. Raises beyond that will be based on experience, new skills gained, and other criteria.
