What Will Your Job Look Like? Our Travel Trainer is tasked with training individuals on the utilization of public transportation. The Travel Trainer will assess for appropriateness for independent public transportation use, create personalize lesson plans, and educate individuals on a wide range of travel skills including trip planning, street crossing, bus and train travel, map and schedule reading, and safety skills, while utilizing public transportation. The Travel Trainer will also research, identify, create, and present custom presentations for new referral program opportunities within the community. The Travel Trainer will be knowledgeable about Paratransit and the functional assessment process. The Travel Trainer will monitor RTC referrals and ensure that recipients are following the RTC process and mode enforcement. What You’ll Do: Complete in-person intake and assessment for each applicant Make determinations whether or not an applicant is qualified to receive training based on the results of the assessment(s) Create and provide one-on-one, individualized field training. Demonstrate and instruct individuals on transit skills. Demonstrate and instruct individuals on how to travel routes including navigation and way-finding strategies. Instruct individuals on self-advocacy. Create lesson plans that are appropriate for individuals of different learning levels. Research and identify opportunities to enhance the referral program within the community, creating custom presentations for this outreach. Conduct group presentations Establish relationships with professionals in the field, community, and advocacy organizations. Schedule training at the time and location of the specific routes requested. Conduct outreach to develop materials. Provide in class and in-the-field training to professionals. Complete all reports and paperwork including but not limited to; initial intake, goal setting and plan, progressive evaluation, pre and post-test, final and follow-up report, satisfaction survey. Manage the daily RTC referral program. Contact recipients that are not compliant with the process and educate on what Paratransit is and determine appropriate mode. Monitor and report to DHCFP monthly on Care Managed Member program and serve as recipient liaison. Must conform to MTM’s HIPAA standards. What You’ll need: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Associate degree in education, Human Services, or Healthcare preferred. Travel training experience preferred. Experience working with disability and/or community advocacy organizations preferred. Familiarity with the transit agency system preferred. Familiarity with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Familiarity with public transportation and mode enforcement. Familiarity with Trapeze and MTM Link software. Even better if you have... Strong interpersonal skills that allow for effective working relationships Intermediate level of proficiency or above with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Excellent communication skills Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills Ability to work flexible hours, in all weather conditions. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
