GET TO KNOW THE ROLE
The role of the Systems Engineer is to design and deploy system solutions to meet the requirements of core organizational functions, as well as evaluate and recommend technologies required to meet those requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Exemplify MCR’s values and set a great example by always demonstrating excellent guest service and professionalism.
- Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino Resort (MCR).
- Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives.
- Design and deploy new platforms and enhancements to existing infrastructure, software, and operating systems.
- Resolve complex hardware and software malfunctions.
- Review technical requirements, establish project milestones and tasks and determine level of effort estimates for their completion.
- Deploy and maintain Unix and Microsoft Servers, Storage Arrays, VMWare infrastructure and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex computer system issues for Servers, Active Directory, VMWare, application services and end-user issues while working within an enterprise environment.
- Conduct research on system platforms, architecture designs, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the enterprise computing industry.
- Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure security and integrity of the enterprise computer environment.
- Develop and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Perform all work in a manner to ensure interoperability and maintain compliance of enterprise computing systems.
- Implement solutions and test performance, capacity and prepare and deliver performance statistics and reports.
- Respond to emergency system outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans, assisting other departments as required.
- Provides recommendations to senior or executive IT management regarding product/vendor selection, technology evolution, and design strategies.
- Effective collaboration skills to work with business partners, architects and technical peers to ensure reliable integration of systems and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Understand and abide by Incident, Problem and Change management processes and procedures.
- Provide root cause analysis and develop and execute corrective action plans for resolution of complex technical issues related to platform and service performance disruptions.
- Develop effective disaster recovery plans and high availability design strategies, and document and test these capabilities on a recurring basis.
- Interact with vendors, peers, and contractors to ensure secure, reliable systems implementations and upgrades are performed within project parameters.
- Create, maintain, and facilitates a positive and safe work environment; promote positive team member relations and reports issues to appropriate personnel.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- A bachelor’s degree (Preferred in Engineering, IS or Technical Degree), master’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of demonstrable experience in the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure systems, applications, and related technologies.
HOW YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL
- Knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems, Active Directory, Linux platforms, VMware and related technologies.
- Knowledge of the complexities surrounding large scale enterprise deployments.
- Skilled in designing and implementing high availability solutions such as: clustering, data replication, dynamic resource allocation, and related procedures.
- Skilled in working in a highly regulated environment (MICS, PCI, SOX)
- Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Skilled in analytical, strategic planning and execution.
- Ability to demonstrate advanced verbal and written communications skills, ability to present in both technical and non-technical terms. Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Demonstrate advanced facilitation skills, ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Demonstrate proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Availability – Ability to work 40 hours per week, primarily Monday – Friday, dayshift. Some holidays, weekends, and nights may be required to support a 24/7 operation. Must maintain on-call rotation.
- Physical – Ability to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job function, with or without assistance.
- Environment – Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) while working and traversing on the gaming floor.
