JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Fireworks Commissioner, supervises and coordinates the activities to maintain the protection and ensures safety of the fireworks stands where needed.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION
Must provide own transportation and must hold a valid Washington State Driver’s license.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Skilled In:
- Understanding and following written and verbal instructions; Writing investigative reports.
- Working independently; Making independent sound decisions.
- Operation of related security equipment including a two-way radio and motor vehicle.
- Emergency preparedness training and understanding.
- Operation of standard office equipment and personal computer.
Knowledge of:
- Defensive tactics and use of force; Basic criminal and civil legal protections for persons and property.
- Security operations and safety practices.
Ability to:
- Detain and restrain individuals who are a threat to others, themselves, or MIT property.
- Complete reports and file reports manually and/or electronically.
- Operate job related equipment, such as two-way radio, motor vehicle, and computer.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within a culturally diverse setting.
- Learn and complete training programs; learn, comprehend, and follow detailed instructions and/or training programs. Maintain confidential information.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; problem solve and use critical thinking; maintain composure during stressful situations.

The employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear; and occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud in the field.
