General Ledger Analyst I

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the General Ledger Manager, the General Ledger Analyst I is responsible for performing and reviewing accounting tasks and functions to maintain compliance with the Tribe's policies and procedures. Duties include assistance and coordination with program managers regarding the full range of accounting tasks. The Analyst must also provide high quality customer service to both internal and external groups, related to inquiries and problem resolution.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review general ledger transactions and reports.

2. Review or prepare journal entries.

3. Review, prepare and analyze general ledger account reconciliations.

4. Provide general ledger information to external auditors.

5. Prepare financial statements for Tribal enterprises requiring governmental oversight.

6. Review fixed assets transactions and related depreciation expense.

7. Assist with the bi-annual external review of fixed assets.

8. Assist with other Finance tasks as assigned.

9. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and  field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a closely related field, and three (3) years related general ledger accounting experience. Additional significant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

Accounting systems and financial transactions.

Skilled in:

Using various automated financial management systems, personal, and mainframe computers. Using reconciliation procedures.

Oral and written communication.

Organization and time management.

Problem solving & analysis.

Creating computer spreadsheets and word processing documents.

Analyzing and interpreting financial reports.

Dealing with difficult people and situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Continuously uses vision. Frequently sits for long periods of time. Frequently talks and listens.

Manual dexterity for computer work and routine paperwork. Occasionally walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.
